Reachon Fastbuz, the point-to-point courier service jointly initiated by KSRTC and Trackon Couriers, will start its operations from Vijayadashami Day on October 23.
PV Bipin, head of Trackon Kerala, said the project would initially make use of the services of 3,700 KSRTC buses and all the bus stations across the State for collection and delivery of consignments.
As part of efforts to mop up revenue
The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) on Tuesday launched Reachon FastBuz, which marks the utility’s foray into courier services, for which a tie-up with Trackon Couriers Private Limited has been inked.
Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, launching the service here, said this would be the beginning of efforts to mop up additional revenue for the KSRTC, apart from creating more employment opportunities. The Corporation was on the receiving end of severe criticism with regard to payment of pensions and an acute financial crisis. The courier service would signal a beginning to the end of such issues, he said.
Vast network
The service, which will utilise the KSRTC’s 6,000-plus schedules and vast network across the State and beyond it, was expected to change the existing delivery patterns of couriers. Courier delivery, which took at least 24 hours in existing circumstances, would become a matter of hours with Reachon FastBuz, which would network 32 bus stations in the first phase, and gradually, all the bus stations in the State.
