Exit, Entry Muddle at KSRTC Create Traffic Jam

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The bottleneck at the Venjaramoodu junction near the KSRTC depot has affected motorists no end who are forced to wait for half an hour at the traffic. Meanwhile, officials have raised concerns regarding the increasing accidents near the depot. The situation has aggravated since the KSRTC bus stand is not wide enough to accommodate all the buses entering there.
V V Haridas, a KSRTC driver said that the traffic congestion is mainly caused as buses enter and exist through the same route, resulting in heavy traffic congestion. “ Buses going to the Attingal side and buses coming from Thiruvananthapuram, MC road take the same route. The roads are also narrow,” he said. Frequent accidents which occur here has raised great concern, Haridas said. “ There is a beverage corporation at the Venjaramoodu junction, near the Indian coffee house which add to the woes. The situation becomes precarious for the pedestrians and passengers alike. Also, the traffic signal is placed in a haphazard manner,“ he added.
Though, a police personnel is deployed to control the traffic, it has not served any use,” he said. If officials take an initiative to resolve the entry and exit crisis of the KSRTC buses, the situation could change, Haridas added.
